TOP 5: HULU WKND BINGE OUT
TOP 5: HULU WKND BINGE OUT*
*KENT TEST passing! [They all have Black leads/focus]
I’ll be real honest, I’m here at 12pm on Thursday, just had to peel myself away from nerding out with TAROT CLUB self appointed work...and I’m gonna keep this short and rad. For realsies. Well, I guess we’ll see eh?
1. HIGH FIDELITY | SHOW
Ya’ll already know how much I fucking LIVE for this show and also b4 the show, the movie & book. These are some of the lines that run through my head for LYFE, likely. “You know, a state of the union type conversation...” mostly cause I’m like, YO, normalize it! In Rob’s case, well he’s just a dick, and had it coming...BUT in like healthy relatishes, SOTU would be helpful for all, no? Also High Fidelity show Rob (zoe kravitz) in the bath tub mome was circ-ing around insta for self love Valy day vibes, and ya’ll know I’M FUCKING HERE FOR IT! Rescind your plug pull on High Fidelity HULU! Let my blog serve as the voices for those who don’t know yet!
2. YOUR ATTENTION PLEASE | VARIETY SHOW
Your Attention Please hosted by Craig Robinson of Office Alum. It’s a little cagey, but most enjoyable, and looks like S2 is out as well. It was a household attention catcher and we binged S1 in uno night.
“Hosted by Craig Robinson, this series introduces us to Black innovators and creators who are working to leave the world better than they found it.” -- Hulu
ALSO it has Quinn Wilson (LIZZO’s Creative Director) on deck! And there’s a lil nuggy mome we get at end of S1. Easy watching but totally engaging.
3. TONI MORRISON: The Pieces I Am | BIOPIC
I knew of Toni Morrison, but I didn’t KNOW the depth and breadth of her life’s work. IT’S SO FUCKING IMPRESSIVE!!!!! She’s a complete #gamechanger
This biopic is PERF for a snowy weekend afternoon. 2020 etc. [2021] is still hella nightmarish so I’m giving you permission to just get to enjoy something but also opening yourself up to the AWE-SOMENESS of the incredible human Toni Morrison was and the work she’s left with us. She was also the impetus for Prof. swooncity of my heart 4ever Angela Y. Davis’s autobiography. Ya’ll know I’m never trying to be without that! I’m likely in store for a rewatch.
4. ATLANTA | SHOW
I LOVE this fucking SHOWWWWWW! Atlanta by the one and only Donald Glover may only be on HULU another minute. Looks like he just signed a deal with Amzies [amazon] for S3 & S4. This show has it all!
Donald Glover
Lakeith Stanfield
Excellent character development
::Chef’s Kiss:: dialogue MUAH!
DO I NEED TO KEEP GOING?!
This was a household fave, and again we’re likely due for a rewatch. Not always easy going, but that’s not always the vibe ya want anyways! WATCH IT!!!!!
5. WOKE | SHOW
Took a plunge on this one and I’ve never felt more rewarded. Humorous & real, Lamorne Morris [New Girl] plays Keef [based on irl cartoonist Keith Knight] a character that makes the visceral experience of being a Black man in New York City impossible to unsee. The process we get to see unfold for Keef is enlightening, enraging, empathy inducing, butt hole clenching, cringey, funny and too too real, but in a most excellent way. This has gotten about 3 re-watches. Characters, jokes, entanglements -- if this is the future of shows & content I’m signing up to be a lifetime subscriber. I also really appreciate the artist eye view of it all.
